第56次南極地域観測越冬隊の一員として技術部所属の大平正が選ばれました。
大平隊員は雪上車をはじめとする各種機械・設備の整備を主に担当します。
11月下旬に成田空港を出発し、豪州・フリーマントル港で南極観測船「しらせ」に乗船し、その後昭和基地に向かいます。
